The Oilers ultimately took Hall, and Tavares – who played against him in junior hockey, said he is "dynamic offensively." Tavares also thinks that Hall wont take long to become a top player. Tavares knows all about the pressure of being the No. 1 pick. "Theres obviously a lot of expectations and a lot that comes with it, but guys like him have been trained for it," he said. A league source requesting anonymity told The Canadian Press late Thursday night that Tucker will be named a receivers coach with the CFL team after suffering a career-ending neck injury last season. Tucker would join the staff of new Eskimos head coach Richie Hall, the long-time Saskatchewan Roughriders assistant who was hired last month when Danny Maciocia relinquished sideline duties to become the clubs full-time general manager. Tucker was involved in a helmet-to-helmet hit with Hamilton Tiger-Cats defender Jykine Bradley in a game July 26 at Ivor Wynne Stadium. He suffered a fractured C6-C7 vertebra that required surgery to repair in Hamilton. Fortunately for Tucker, he did not suffer damage to his spinal cord and the prognosis was good in that he was expected to make a full recovery from his injury. Yet instead of retreating to his ranch in Texas, the married father of three young daughters made an emotional return to Edmonton on July 31, watching from the pressbox as the Eskimos beat B.C. 35-24. The Green Bay Packers added Tucker to their practice roster on Oct. 28, 1998 and ultimately he landed with the Rhein Fire of the now-defunct NFL Europe. After registering 26 catches for 454 yards and three touchdowns, Tucker was invited to the Dallas Cowboys training camp and spent two seasons there before being released prior to the `01 campaign.
